Hey, if you haven't heard of a ski bike before its basically a normal bike with a ski attached to the front and back fork. I am not interested in making a ski bike, however I am trying to borrow their idea where a flat surface is attached to the front fork (like this http://slopecycle.com/images/P/XR1%2...ork_detail.jpg ) . however, this costs $150 and I am looking for something a little less expensive. any advice on how i can do this that does not involve welding would be appreciated. thanks a lot for your help, i really need it

I'd get one of these, 16 CAD$ at MEC:

It could easily be used to make anything and it's very robust. I was thinking about making a ski bike with a huge rear tire and a pair of old children skis.
hey pluc,
these truck bed mounts are actually something else I was looking into, seems like its really sturdy too. I only have two concerns with it:
1. when attached, will it swing from side to side or will it lock in place?
2. i am looking for something to attach to a children's bike (distance between the forks is approx. 3.5"). maybe they make mounts for smaller bikes?
I appreciate your help,
Adam
Slag0e, when it's attached there's definitely no play. It's the same as a wheel hub. I don't know if they make smaller ones, that the only model I know of (though that doesn't mean there ain't!).
