I just ordered a Fenix Q5 Cree L2D and a pack of lockblocks because the switch (I think that is the problem) on my old 25W cygolite crapped out on me. I have wanted to try out the Fenix lights, but I would also like to keep the cygolite if it can be fixed with reasonable cost and effort. I realize the switch is a common issue with (older?) cygolites, but before I contacted them to see if they can do anything for me, I thought I would ping the BF group to see if there are any new and great fixes for the switch issues. I'm not an electronics-fix-it kinda guy, but I would describe the problem as the switch on the light doesn't have the solid "click" feeling anymore and of course the light doesn't come on at all. Any help would be appreciated.

I ordered the same model Friday and am anxious to get it and try it out. Doubtful if it will be here for my Tuesday night ride though. Rats!

What model of cygolite do you have? Can you post pics of the switch(s)?

It's the Night Explorer model with a 10 watt flood and a 15 watt spot. It has the standard single push switch on the back of the light unit with a rubber boot that screws onto it. I'll try to take a picture or two and post it.

I'm not certain that unit uses the same switches as my night rovers. Regardless, the switches are probably best defeated and wired directly.
