I spend most of my time in the aero bars. I get the burps. Almost like I have seltzer water in the bottles rather than plain water or a sports drink. I've tried several over the counter gas meds without relief. I suspect I may swallow air, but why and how to stop it. I have a pot gut. Anyone with ideas how to curb this unpleasant problem? Especially in a pace line, you'd think we spent the day drinking Beer instead of doing a century.

Good question. Is it better/worse depending on what/when you've eaten? That's all I can think of.....
I'll get it too on my commute sometimes. I think its from how I'm breathing hard while cycling. Maybe I'm swallowing while take deep breaths - pushes air into stomach. Get upright at the next light...burp!

Doesn't seem to make any difference what I have eaten.

Swallowing while breathing...that can't happen. Swallowing is a reflex and doesn't allow breathing while occurring or vice versa. Don't know why this would happen though, I prob. would think it was based on what you ate, who knows

As long as its not acid reflux. Nothing worse than burping up gastric juices that taste like vomit.
you are swallowing air when you drink
stop that
