Bicycle Mechanics - Cannondale Si chainring compatibility...

Hey Guys I have a quick question......
Are the Cannondale Si chainrings compatible with both Campy and shimano?

Yes.

You have to make sure you've got the same bolt pattern, and if you're changing the number of teeth you need to make sure your derailleurs and chainstays are compatible.

The bolt pattern is determined by the crank you're using.

Probably but it's not quite that easy. First, Campy and Shimano what? If you're not changing number of speeds, and if your crankset is a double, and if you're not mixing chainrings, then you can probably go either way. If any one or more of these variables don't match you may have a problem, either a small problem or a big problem. You really need to offer more information.

Si cranksets are double-only.
I suppose I should expand upon my earlier answer...if the question pertains to specifically whether the chainrings are optimized for shifting with either Campy or Shimano (or SRAM, for that matter), the answer is that there is no issue there. As far as the cranksets go, the Si cranksets are set up with a 43.5 mm chainline which should work fine with either system. Their chainring designer said the crankset system works well with either of the two major players, though he was partial to Campy as a personal preference alone. Bolt circles are 130 mm for standard chainrings or 110 for their compact chainrings, each on a five bolt circle. This, of course, excludes the Zipp crankset we are making for them, which is on a 4-bolt 110 mm BCD and will work well for any of the major players in the drivetrain market.

I'm sorry I wasn't more specific with my question, so here's the scoop...

I'm currently riding a Six13 with an Si Crankset, it has a Campy Record Gruppo...

I want to upgrade to a System Six frame and swap all the parts to the new Frame...

A Friend of mine is riding an Ultegra equiped Bike and wants to buy my Six13 frame, so i guess the real question is, will he beable to swap his Ultegra Gruppo including front and rear D/A's etc to my old frame without having to do anything to the Si Chainrings?
His bike is a triple, so he may need a new front D/A and front shifter, right?

After reading the replies I'm 99% sure the Si Chainrings are campy/shimano compatible but I just want to make sure to save us both a headache....
