My car loaded for a Sunday ride :D .
So I hit my first ever mountain trail, and man that was fun! This was my first run up a trail, I was alone (*sigh* still trying to figure out where to find beginners to ride with), and I got lost several times (need to bring a compass next time, :D), but overall it was quite a great ride. I also hit the paved road, a 7 mile journey around a large man-made lake, which was fun in it self. I did manage to mingle off the path (this is why I love mountain bikes) and started fooling around on the beach (it was empty! Don't worry I'm not crazy).
A few lessons I've learned...
1) Heavy people do not climb well... Lots of rear wheel spin, and not enough weight on the front of the bike to keep the wheel down.
2) As great of an idea it was to raid the beach; sand > me... Stupid idea 1 was dropping into the sand from a 6 inch curb... Man, sand is very mushy! :p
Today I'm doing great, but my butt is a little bit on the bruised side. I took a wrench with me to adjust the seat as I drove along trying to find a comfortable position; I found none :( . I need to figure out if my seat can be tilted forward, that should help a lot.
Big thumbs up to my new hobby!
