The stock fork with Avid BB7 discs on the 2008 Poprad is too flexy. What would be the best fork upgrade here? Haven't seen much online.

The Kona Project 2 fork is quite stout. I haven't had too much flex with mine.

I have the same Lemond fork as you do. The problem with a decent fork that allows for discs is that they all have canti bosses and that ruins the lines of the fork. (Like Easton.)

Why do you want to upgrade? Some fork flex is good, particularly when offroad.

What about the stock Bianchi Roger fork? Should be available via a dealer.

Thanks for the feedback. Are you getting brake shudder from the front? I posted a question earlier about whether this is expected during the break in period. I find it very annoying and thought the flex in the fork was contributing to the problem. I've cleaned the rotors, checked for trueness, tightened the torque bolts, and adjusted the pads to the proper spec. Any thoughts?

I test rode one that was doing the same thing! Take it back to the dealer. It's caused by an improperly installed front brake. Check for angle of pads, etc.

The one I ended up buying didn't have that shudder.

So, took it back and had the pads removed and inspected. There was a very odd wear pattern already present in the pads, something the LBS guy had never seen before. We called Avid, we were all stumped, he put new pads in under warranty and the problem is gone! I wish I had a picture, but it looked like the mark of the tip of an iron when it burns something...bizarre! I'm just glad to be riding the Poprad again. My poor Serotta is wondering where is my master?!

Good to hear the issue was resolved. Now this is archived for other Poprad owners. Sounds like a QA issue from Lemond.

I have the Nashbar carbon cross fork, but I have v-brakes on it. Do a Bikeforums search and you'll find several threads about that fork. Some say it's exactly the same as some hoity toity model and therefore a great bargain. It's my first experience with carbon, so I'm no authority. However, with the right coupon, the Nashbar fork is pretty cheap. Look for it in their returns section and it might be $65 or so.
