Northern California - Blackburn Delphi 6.0 stops recording distance ...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. ... I've been pretty happy with my Blackburn Delphi 6.0. It is a wireless computer, with just about everything you could want (altitude, speed, cadence, HRM, etc ...). However, I've found that if you have the Niteroader Moab, or Cateye mounted on the handlebar (right next to the computer), it stops recording distance and speed. Cadence continues to record, but that's probably because it is a wired sensor. I guess I'll have to position any lights away from the computer.

Has anyone else observed similar oddities with wireless computers? Or is it just that Blackburn's wireless is a pain in the #$@@#%!@# .... maybe it's time to look at VDO, or just use my helmet light.

I've noticed anomalies w/ all wireless computer stuff. If I turn my lighting system on, it will sometimes screw w/ the readings. Sometimes wired is better.

Yes, I found that my LED headlight interferes with my wireless Cateye on the hybrid. It very gradually adds on distance so I think it is recording me at a speed < 0.1 mph. That's why I decided to go with a wired VDO on the new bike, no problem with the same headlight.

I used to have the MicroWireless from Cateye. I never had interference from my led lights but I had plenty of problems with door sensors and magnetic security devices. I guess the computer is misinterpreting other signals from these devices and I kept getting false speed readings. This is very anoying because it throws off my average speed and distance. This is the primary reason I replaced all of them with wired Strada's. There will be no more wireless cyclocomputers for me.

Weird.

I have no problems with my double wireless Cateye CD300DW.

Weird.

I have no problems with my double wireless Cateye CD300DW.

Thats because the CD300DW has coded digital signal to the receiver. The less expensive wireless computers uses generic signals which is what causes interferences.

That's true.

That said, I love the thing!

It looks great too :)
