I have a pair of Planet Bike Cascadia 29" fenders, and I want to mount the front fender to my suspension fork's brake arch by drilling a small hole, horizontally, back-to-front, through the center of the arch.

Any issuses with this, re: structural integrity-wise?

IMHO not a good idea. The stresses in this area are high. Most fenders for front suspension forks attach upwards into the steerer tube with some sort of expansion plug, thus keeping the integrety of the arch intact.

Modifying any structural component is unwise. Although some suspension forks have a through hole in the center of the arch, it may be that they are beefed up in the area to relieve increased stresses.

I hear what you're sayin'.

Maybe I should mention this is a disc brake suspension fork... does that mean less stress on the brake arch than on a fork with V-brakes?

Make a bracket out of a P clip or straping used to hang pipes in houses. No reason you need to drill it, If you are very carefull it can be made to look ok.

I've already started to do just that! I just thought I could beef up the connection with a bolt through the brake arch, too.
