I made this clock today for the shop -- it's made from an old brake disc (begged from my LBS) and some clock parts from the craft store:

I am making up some cabinet knobs from cogs and chain brazed together.

Cool! Are you going to paint or plate 'em?

What do I make with old bike parts?

I make my wife wish that I'd take them down to the shed or throw them away.

LOL that sounds like my wife , she thinks I got rid of the more junky looking old parts but I've now got them stored at work, ready to re-introduce a bit at a time back to my shed

very cool! I've been meaning to do something like that. I've got this big empty wall; thought it'd be interesting to have a big clock on it, made sort of an integral part of the wall itself, but that's a little too permanent. this gives me ideas.

btw, who is that in your avatar with Marvin?

cheers,

alex

Yep! I can't recall where I found it originally, but I thought the X-Files meets Marvin context was kinda funny... :p

Thanks! It actually came together kinda nice -- it took a little while to make the little metal bracket that holds the movement in place (fashioned it from a PC slot cover) but the rest was pretty easy.

A friend of mine made a pencil holder for his desk out of the part of a frame at the point where the bottom bracket meets the downtube. You stick the pencils in the downtube part.
