Anyone know if the Sram Force/Rival shifters will properly shift the FSA Gossamer front derailleur ? I'd rather not buy a "you can't trim" Sram Force/Rival front derailleur if I don't have to. I know the newer Sram Red front "trims", but I'm not wealthy enough (or stupid enough) to "make the leap" to blingware. I'm just a sport rider anyways.

In any case, this is not generally an issue with double chainwheel setups. Doubles are really not fussy about this sort of thing as triples are.

You can generally use any shifter/derailer combination with a double.

Thanks for the information Sheldon.

I'll just use my existing front derailleur/derailer with the Rival shifter. A mortgage payment for a set of Sram Red shifters and a Sram Red front derailleur/derailer isn't in my future anyway.

I'd be curious to know how Sram's 1:1 works with other der. If you have a chance, let us know how easy it was to set-up and how it performs.

Isn't SRAM's 1:1 cable pull a property of the rear derailleur/shifter, not the front? Does SRAM use different shifting geometry in front too?

I assumed they did but don't know for sure.

I am pretty sure Shimano and SRAM use equivalent cable pull for front.

I can tell you that the MTB SRAM 1:1 shifters X.7, X.9 and X.0 are 1:1 for the rear only and the same as Shimano for the front. I use an X.9 on the rear of my Trek Fuel and an XT up front - both with X.9 Trigger shifters. I assume the same is true with the Force/Rival series.
