OK. I am frustrated with the choices available for folding bike pedals.

MKS would be a good answer, but I refuse to use yet another cleat system. Plus I would want to buy two sets of pedals one of CUBE EZ and one of AR-2 EZY. Alternately I could just live with the AR-2 EZY only ride with clips and straps and miss being able to wear real bike shoes on the bike.

Another option I am considering is to use SPDs and some kind of platform adapter. This option sounds attractive to me, since I have a pair of SPD pedals laying around. They don't stick out nearly as much as many pedals and if I really was worried about it some spd models stick out even less. So this sounds like the answer for me IF I can find a platform adapter that works well.

Can any of you recommend an spd adaptor that allows the use of regular shoes on one of the narrow spd pedals. I think my preference would be one that works with clips and straps, but may consider others. I have seen several advertised, but was hoping for some feedback on how well the various models work.

FWIW: I wear size 11 (45 eur) and have a wide foot (EEE in street shoes or mega in Sidi models).

Why not use one of Shimano's pop up binding pedals, like the Shimano M424??

you can continue to use SPD cleats or normal shoes with the one pedal

I might go that route, but they do stick out more than an SPD only pedal and are not removable.
