I think I have read just about every post on this board over the last few days.
I am having a hard time finding a 6 volt 15w MR11 replacement bulp for my Planet Bike Alias light system.
The battery is 6 volts and 4.5 ah nimh
Will this bulb work with this system?

The pic turned out pretty small but here are the specs for the bulb

Specialty Brand, JCR/M6V-20W Halogen MR-11 Lamp, 20W, 6V with GZ4 Base and 20° Beam, 50 Hours Rated Life, (1.41 inch / 35.8 mm diameter, 1.31 inch / 33.3 mm length), 3200K color, Sold Individually

If not how hard would it be to make or get a battery that can power the 20W 12 volt halogen lamp that I can find at just about any store that sells light bulbs? Right now I am getting by with my 1 watt led flashight but I would prefer to have more light.

You might have some overheating of the light fixture. With 20w vs. 15w, I wouldn't expect that to be too terrible.

Battery life should be shorter (IE, shorter run time).
Don't know about beam angle or physical dimensions.
Battery life of 50 hours doesn't sound too promising, but don't know how that compares.

harringtonlight.com carries several MR11 6V lamps in 5, 10 and 20W with various spot sizes. With an SLA battery you will reduce your battery run time disproportionatly to the increase in wattage. That being said I've run slightly over 20W with a 4.5 aH SLA battery for 45 min/day without any problems. I recharge each night.

The 20W will burn for 1.3 hours and the 15W will burn for 1.8 hr. Not much difference. I'd keep running the 6V system until the battery dies and then consider converting to 12V...or 14.4V actually.;)

The formula for figuring the burn time is

hour = (Ahr * Volts)/watts
