Just got through carving the pumpkin with my 7 year old. Have fun tomorrow night and watch out for the tricker treaters!

No need for breaks when there are no pedals...
Notice the tires are flat
I love this picture though.

Tonight was trick-or-treat here. I seldom have any kids since I live in a court off a dead-end street in a neighborhood of older people. I had the grand total of one tonight. The kid was thrilled when I dumped the whole bag of mini Snickers into his bag:)

The bike(s) on the left look suspiciously white... and isn't that the Coronado bike path the guy is on?

Just sayin'

Nobody can be more "grave" and serious than a 3 or 4 year old on their first Halloween trick or treat.......sometimes they get the two terms mixed up. I do like handing out candy, although in recent years the number of local trick or treaters has gone down as parents get more cautious.

Tonight is one of the times that I am so glad we did not choose a "retirement community" to settle in. We love to see the kiddies come by all dressed up, and we will probably get about 50 of them.

Other times? Christmas, when the little ones are out riding their new bikes or whatever; seeing a big stork on someone's lawn; watching the triplets up the street as they have grown over the past 3 years; talking with and getting the viewpoints of younger parents and folks.

I'll probably get between 200 and 300 kids or even more at our door. I own a big Vctorian house in a neighborhood full of houses like that, but our little enclave is surrounded by apartment buildings. I have kids so we decorate our house and the neighborhood kids and their parents know to come to the decorated houses.

And to tie it all back to cycling, I'm using my PlanetBike Superflash blinky tail light as the beating heart of my skeleton, and the high-intensity LED headlights as a spotlight for some other spooky things.

Going to spoil your party Now. This is England and Halloween is an American Custom. All trick or treat is over here-- Is a chance for the Police to turn a Blind eye at Hooliganism that goes on in the name of "Tradition". Not our tradition but it has taken off with the younger over here. I am ready with my bucket of water and Camera to dampen down the hooligans ardour when they get out of hand. To quote a well known saying "Bah Humbug."

Just a few days later and one of our Traditions- Is being spoilt by legislation. GUY FAWKES NIGHT. This is where we Celebrate the attempted Blowing up of Parliament with Bonfires and Fireworks. We will be celebrating it in our Garden for our street as we have the biggest Garden and so can cater for the rest of the neighbours and the kids being far enough away from the Festivities. Should be fun but why do we have to spend 4 hours in the Garden on a Freezing November Night when April is far Warmer?
