They mapped it off of Felter Rd. close to Sierra Rd. I'm sure you know where I'm talking about. Calaveras reservoir dam broke!

It's funny, I have not been in a quake for quite a long time, but once I realized what was up, I picked up my kids and started out the door. It stopped before I got out.

Same here. I felt it out here in Fairfield. I usually don't feel quakes. Last one I felt was Loma Prieta. This one rolled a bit.

Felt it out here (Half Moon Bay), but as said above, it ended before I got outside. Dishes were shaking...
Meh, didn't feel a thing here, as usual. Then again, it was just a 5.6, so not too surprising.
Yeah, me either. I just hope the Big One doesn't hit Saturday night. I'll be Memorial Stadium for the Cal-WSU game.

We felt nothing here in Vacaville. We felt Loma Prieta 350 miles away in Lompoc.

Same here, in San Francisco. The house started to shake and it stop by the time we reached the door.
Definitely will be alert tonight :(
Cali is having a rough go of it as of late. Glad everyone is ok. :)
Heh, I was at a stoplight in Menlo Park, driving to my home in Union City.
My car shook like the dickens!
Needless to say I was really thrilled at the prospect of driving over the Dumbarton Bridge about 10 minutes later.
But I'm happy to report the bridge was still intact and my home is still standing. :)
my house did some swaying and shaking... wife was kind of having flash backs of the 89 quake. Strange thing is this is the 3rd quake for the bay area today . I think concord had a 2.9 around 12:50pm today and Berk had a 2.2.

Sorry everyone... was hitting the bass drums a bit hard tonight at practice :-) This was easily the biggest quake I have felt since the 89 shaker. At first I thought someone dropped an amp or speaker cabinet down the flight of stairs near my room but when the stands started swaying and it really started to shake hard, it was run for the door time. My studio is down by Brokaw and the airport so it was fairly close to the epicenter. This quake went on a little too long for comfort, I'm surprised it was not a 6+.

Neither I nor my kids felt a thing, here in San Mateo. The first we knew about it was when they interrupted "NCIS".
We did not feel anything is San Mateo Park.
This was the first quake my daughter has ever felt so she was a bit scared. But we showed her what to do in case it comes again and then made light of it by joking about it. So she is cool now.
I remember my first tornado alert when i moved to the Dallas area back in 2001! I was chittin' bricks since I was in TX for the first 4 mos by myself!! I even sat in the bath tub because they say the bathroom is the safest place to be. hahahah!
I'd tell the Texans about quakes and how 5's are no big deal. They said I was crazy and that they'd freak out in any quake. They'd much rather deal with a tornado. Uummm.. no thanks, I'll take the quakes. Don't care to be spun around at 150+ mph and thrown miles away along with everything in it's path. lol!

weird... I felt it.
I was on the 2nd floor, so maybe that's why I felt it pretty good.

I was at the mall trying to get a cell phone in one of those kiosk things. I felt the first little one and turned around thinking, "dang, that felt like being stopped in traffic when a big truck goes by". Then next thing you know, I REALLY felt it and every one started to scramble because right above the kiosk were skylights. Not that they broke or anything........just getting out of the way in case they do. Funny thing is, all the phones went out and we had to wait on the cell phones.

Yeah, me too. I think being on the 2nd floor amplifies the movement. I was worried for a while.
It was the first for my 4 year old son, too. He kept asking me to make it stop :(

Heck, we felt it up here in Twain Harte! I called my dad a few miles away and he didn't feel it so I was starting to question myself... 'til I watched the news  Not bad up here. Glad to hear no one was hurt and not much (if any) damage.

Definitely. We used to live in a top floor flat in The Richmond, and it shook when buses went by. I think I felt all the aftershocks from the Loma Prieta quake!

Felt it here in Foster City (on the 2nd floor). That's the second biggest quake I've felt, the biggest one was when I was in Chicago (epicenter in Tennessee).

Was a good roller here in Campbell, definitely the biggest I've felt in some time (probably since '89). Kinda funny, as it started the first thing in my mind is "how prepared am I if this thing takes it up a notch?" Funny that we have the other earthquake thread on this same page. So on this weekend's list is to put together a decent emergency kit.

It felt pretty big over in Santa Clara. My monitor was shaking violently (I have a monitor not an LCD). I went out and all my neighbors were outside too. Actually I didn't get up from my chair till it was over. Then I went outside to see if any of the neighbors houses had collapsed :p

Had the old homestead a'movin' and a'groovin' in Pacifica.
I was on the couch, Mrs S was in the kitchen. She came out to the living room to stand in a doorway  We had quite a conversation about it while the house continued to kind of roll and sway a little. I just kept watching the pictures on the wall to try to suss whether it was slowing down, staying the same and getting worse. It wasn't the intensity so much that spooked me, it was the duration. It was a long one.

I was outside on a concrete patio in my back yard carving pumpkins. It didn't seem that big but it did last a long time. It even shook the wind chimes that are hanging from the house, that was kind of eerie.

I dunno - all that Channel 2 could find in the way of damage was a couple smashed jars of olives at an Albertsons. There'll be a few Martinis going begging..... :D

I saw footage of some books on the floor at a Border's.... over and over and over. Damn - a lot of coverage for a 15 minute story.

Haha... That's the news for ya.
Only big deal seems to be for those with kids, since essentially all of them were not alive for (or old enough to remember) Loma Prieta. So this would be their first time feeling one.
My wife was getting so pissed off at all the non-stories on TV about how a person was standing somewhere, felt the shaking, and some crap fell.
I guess all of us who experienced Loma Prieta didn't feel it was such a BFD.

Except if you're working on some bikes down in your basement at the time of the quake like I was. All i heard was a big sound, then the whole top floor was shaking like crazy. I ran up the stairs, grabbed 2 of the dogs while my wife ran outside with the other one. Thank God they're small (Pugs and shinzu) otherwise I would of left them. Did I also mention that I grabbed my Orbea on the way out the door.

I'm in the northbay and I didn't feel a thing. Of course, I've been thorugh so many in my life, I don't even notice them anymore. Last one I felt was the '89 quake. It's kind of sad, really, to become that blase' about quakes.
Okay, who just shoved my chair?!
