Has anyone done this ride? I have a co-worker that wants me to do this with him next Summer. Looks like I'm really going to have to do some serious hill work between now and then. Oi what have I gottem myself into? I'll be riding my Raleigh Cadent 3.0 so I think its up to the task ok but my old body will really have to get into shape.

Practice! Start now...I haven't done it myself, but I know there's got to be plenty of people here who have :) .

From White River (Mather Memorial Parkway?) to Sunrise? Do you plan to start the ride at White River campground, or all the way from the bottom at Hwy 410? If former, that's quite a climb! If latter, you are crazy! ;) I've climbed up there in my Jeep last fall and it took me 45 minutes at 40 mph. I passed a large-ish group of cyclists climbing up. Impressive. I'm not sure I'd be able to get up there. The climb is way tougher than any mountain at the Tour de France.

Yeah I'm crazy. I think it would be a good birthday ride for my 55th in June and the guy I work with is the same age. He did it last summer with his son and wants to do it again. We would be starting at the entrance from the turnout across the street and riding to Sunrise. My wife says to have them call her so she can have my old butt hauled away :)
