After degreasing and cleaning, I notice some rust forming on the chain and discs. I know a little lubrication of the chain is recommended to prevent flash-rusting, but what about the brake discs? I usually wipe the water off the discs right away but still there is a little rust showing inside the little holes in the disc.
What can I do to get that stuff out of there? And is this really something to worry about in the first place?
Do not lubricate the discs. Get on the bike, ride a few yards and put on the brakes and the rust will go away. THe discs on my Toyota van look even worse after a rain: total rust up. The pads polish it right up. If you are really worried, rubbing alcohol rinse after washing will replace most of the water with rapidly evaporating alcohol but it is gratuitous. Steve

I didn't lube up the discs. The flash rust is inside the disc cutouts where the pads don't touch, not on the surface.

You may still want to only do the alcohol trick as any lubricant could run when the disk heats up, run off of the center and contaminate the pads. Although the amount may be so small compaired to the mud and sand and stuff that already gets onto the rotor.
