I happened across an old West Australian made "Swansea" roadster on a verge yesterday. I guess it to be ~maybe~ 1940s vintage. Whilst I doubt it's particularly valuable, or collectible I'd love to find out a little bit more about it and the brand. It's pretty scrappy, but fairly original looking with enough of the original paint left to reveal the quite nice detail in lettering, pin striping & lug work. Whereas the old Malvern Stars had the 6 point stars in the head lugs & fork crown - this has some cool little swan insignia.

Anyone know of any online Aussie forums for vintage machines ? All I've been able to find is some little synopsis history of Swansea as a company, based in Fremantle at a UWA site and the Canberra Bicycle Museum.

I suppose vintage bikes are really generally only the domain of crusty old buggers in their sheds who hate computers - (and anything electrical that's not encased in bakelite :D) Certainly none of the listings for the WA Historical Bicylce Club are hyperlinked elsewhere ;)

By the way... glad you can spell collectible. I always figure anyone who has collectable on their shop sign knows diddly squat about what business they are in and therefore aren't worth a visit.
