I used quotes because it wasn't an official half-century, just a training ride. Nevertheless, I did 50 miles today!!!! YAY me! 14.7mph, too. I had the HRM set to keep me between 60-75% which made a HUGE difference, not to metion that clouds hid the TX sun for most of the ride (whew)...

Anyway, you don't gots ta reply. Just wanted to share my small triumph! :)

5400! That's Friday & Sat plus lunch today!!! Actually "lost" 6 lbs on the ride, though I'm sure at least 5 will make a return appearance...

Well, I'm training for an MS 150 and Day 1 is about 80 miles, so if I don't get the metric-C training in the next month, I'll sure get it on the ride! :D

Fine job, I extended my longest ride ever to 40 miles today as well. It feels good to go a distance you've never gone before. That MS 150 is going to be cake. :)

That pretty cool man! I did two 80 km rides in the last few days, 80km = 49.7 miles at an average speed of 27km/h = 16.8 mph.

I felt pretty tired after each effort, but not beaten. Did some on line calculating as I have some goals to shoot for myself.

100km = 62.1 miles (shouldn't be too hard on the legs.)

100miles = 160.9km (Damn!!! that's gonna hurt!)

I did 42 miles Saturday, my longest ride since a half century I did over 20 years ago. First Sunday in September doing a metric century. I feel ready.

Fantastic, Carl!!

Those small milestones sure feel good. Last weekend (8/16) I completed a near half-century (49 miles). It too was my longest ride in over 10 years.

Way to go!! Keep going!!

Thanks for all the support everyone. You all are real athletic supporters! Um, wait. I didn't mean it that way. I mean, um, aw crap... ;)
Seriously though, thanks.

OK you got it all wrong. 50 miles is 50 miles. It does not have to be an "official" ride. Shoot those are easy. You have SAG support. You got SAG stops. You got encouragement. Official rides are ok and all that.

Going out and just doing it without support on your own is harder. It is also more aestically pleasing. I mean it is just you, the bike and the distance. There is a certain simplicity to the experience that an EVENT just does not capture. Good for you. Way to go.

Aren't you in Texas? That's pretty darn good riding in the heat.
