Three weeks after I bought a Kona Jake the Snake frame and custom-built it up with carbon this that and the other, it got stolen from my garden shed. I've been totally distraught ever since, and it's only now, five months later, that I am able to bring myself to consider buying a new one. It was an 07 model in that gorgeous metallic orange paint. And I was loving it. But the 58" model is now no longer in stock. And the thing I want to know is: what should I replace it with? The new 08 model is green, not a color I much like, and without carbon fiber stays, so although it's lighter (which I like), I reckon it's not as comfortable a ride, and probably cheaper. The angles also seem to have changed, though I'm not sure whether that means it's a faster more responsive ride, or a slacker ride. Anyway, should I go for this new model? Does anyone know how I can source a 58" 07 model? Or is there something else I should try in a similar-ish price range.

Do you have renters / homeowners insurance to cover this?

Please say yes.

Try calling Kona and seeing if they have any old stock.

Also, call local bike shops that carry Kona to see if they have / can get you one.

Sorry.

Hmm...the orange one was an 06, the green was 07 and the 08 looks a little like a Lemond.

The 06 doesn't have carbon stays -- they are painted black, but UI think they're aluminum. It also has the project 2 steel fork, which is why i got one and not an 07 (not a fan of carbon forks)...also in 58. But you can't have it because I love it.

Out of interest, how tall are you?

They show up on Ebay fairly often. The other thing you can do is check with an LBS who carries them -- you may find they have a longstanding customer upgrading.
