My wife and I are looking for our first tandem. We are having trouble deciding on what to get. I am 6' and she is 5'2" and really would like to see and try some different models to see what fits and works for us. We are in Phoenix and I don't know of any shops that carry multiple tandems (more than one in stock).

We are going to be in the San Diego area over Labor Day weekend. Does anyone know of a good shop that we could visit and actually see and try some different tandems?

We're similar sized. My husband is 6' & I'm 5'4". We bought a Trek T2000 tandem (size Large) this past Christmas and so far have about 1,000 miles on it. We love this bike! We just came back from a week's vacation & rode every day (20-40 miles) except for 1 day that was too hot for me to ride. We didn't get a chance to test drive it before ordering it, but we've worked with our LBS before for road bikes & trusted their judgment (of course, they stand behind their bikes). We figured that we'd enjoy tandeming (and we do - even more than we expected) so wanted to buy a good bike to start with, rather than buying a less expensive model & wanting to upgrade soon.

bike4fun,

Take a look at the Angletech Viewpoint. www.angletechcycles.com . We've been riding ours for five years and still love it. It's not for everyone, but what the hey; it doesn't hurt to take a look see.

Bike4fun,

Oops. I just made a visit to Angletech, and they've changed the name of the Viewpoint to the Harmony. Go figure.
