...to help. I thought my new race rig would be an R3-SL, but then a TCR Advanced reared it's carbon headset. My old whip was a TCR C1, which I liked. I can get the frameset for $800-900 less than the R3-SL. Both are 07s and the Advanced is not ISP. Kit would be the same. Your thoughts?

At this point it's all aesthetics. Do you like the R3 $900 more?

you can get an R3 for $700 less than an SL.

This particular dealer would sell the SL for $400 more than the non-SL.

I obviously have a bias toward the Giant. Compared to your TCR C1, the Advanced will be much stiffer in the front end, and the BB.

I'd ride them both if you can, and pick the one that feels best.

Other than that I'd favor the Giant for 1) the cash, and 2) Giant's reputation for manufacturing quality working with CF.

Oh, I almost forgot to ask you Merlin, the head tube on the 2007+ advanced frames is 1 cm longer than in the past, isn't it?

advanced for so many logical reasons, there's no point to list them.

cervelo if you want compliments on your bike, not what you do with it.

I'll post the Giant when it's built. ;)

Whichever one the white R3 is thats the one to get, no matter how much more it is, becuase that is one hot bike. Evrything else is just a bunch of high tech spec mumbo jumbo.

See, I knew you could count on us..........

Thank you, Cervelo's are like underwear without a fly.

I think the Giant is better from a material and geometry perspective. Cervelo seems to be balls out uber-tech but they're ideas towards sizing are a bit tweaked, and given a few incidents I wonder how much frame life they sacrifice for what they achieve.

It's 17cm on an M/Lframe. Not sure how that compares
with pre 2007.

I didn't have any trouble setting it up with plenty of drop if that's the concern.

When's the last time logic entered into a BF discussion?

To the OP (from a Cervelo owner), save your $$ and spend it on wheels.
