Northern California - Are we allowed to post For Sale threads here?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I only want to deal with local buyers so can we post a FS thread here?

Thanks.

The proper technique is to post a real ad somewhere like Craig's List and then pretend you just happened to see it and thought someone here might be interested. If someone calls you on it... fess up, shill.

I was wondering the same thing the other day. It would make sense to advertise it to local people.
But, according to the Forum Guidelines, it's not allowed :(

What I've seen from BF folks is that they post it here (http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=213) first and then add it to their sig.

Hey, I saw your ad the other day while browsing Criagslist... hehe! I wish I hadn't pulled the trigger on my Equipe's when I could have gotten lighter wheels for about the same price I paid. I've seen several better deals "after" I bought mine! CRAP!!

Oh well... too late now.

No, it's not! Buy my wheels (I'll make you a good deal on it) and sell your other ones! :)

Good wheels make a big difference. The reason I'm selling this fairly new set of RaceLites is because I upgraded to Easton Tempest IIs. And boy, what a difference! I didn't think the difference would be so dramatic, frankly. I used to focus only on the weight difference, which is pretty small. But, other factors, like the hub and the aero properties of the rim all combine to make an impact. I'm really happy about the upgrade.

That's not very good advertising! BTW, I got my Race Lites for $200 new so I think you're asking too much.

That's an incredible deal. Where did you get those? They usually go for $400-$500. Can you get that deal again?

PS: I wasn't trying to advertise to Gee3, since I know him. I was commenting on how better wheels made a greater difference than I had previously thought possible.

No, that was a one-time deal... the shop was making room for the new blue ones and figured no one would want the old black ones. But they do come up on eBay new every once in a while for pretty cheap.
