Wondering if anyone has any experience with FMF parts. I've been working in the motorcycle industry for years, and they are a very respected name, but I know nothing about their BMX parts.

I am getting back into BMX after years away, and am looking to upgrade my DK with FMF cassette hubs, carbon fiber cranks, and possibly bars and stem.

Any thoughts?

Only good for racing, they would be utter crap to put on a street bike.

I understand what you're saying about the carbon pieces being race only. I know and understand the limits of carbon fiber, and I am not considering slathering my bike in carbon. I was asking in general about the quality of FMF parts. I'd like to use their parts (carbon or otherwise) as I've been using their stuff for the last twenty years on my motocross bikes, but if their FMF gear is crap, I'll look elsewhere.

Weirdly enough, I am building my DK as my track bike 'cause I love the geometry and the way it rides. With the left-over parts, I will buy another frame, and build a bike for street bashing.

all right you got me talking. FMF parts are real good, just some of their products are reasonably priced some are outragious, some you definitely can do without.

chain tensioners are decent, affordable, brakes are expensive, chain is real nice ( i have this one) those carbon fiber cranks are for those who are fluid on the track and won't case . For nearly two times cheaper than the price of the fmf cranks I would go for the redline flite, profile, fly bikes cranks.

Fork well supercross are nicely priced. If you really must go for a carbon fiber fork I go with the Bombshell carbon fork( I have this) carbon forks are equipeped with a chromoly steerer tube.

As for the cassettes i would go with other brands like supercross because it has 4 pawls instead the standard 3 pawls like many lower companies, fmf is one of them with only 3pawls. But if you can go for the better cassettes like profile, stealth, CHRIS King(this i have too), I suggest go for them.

The bars: in my opinion for racing, a stem is a stem and a handle bar is a handle bar in a nutshell FMF will suit you just fine. BUT as long as the handle bar fits, feels right to you and the stem is the right size or makes your frame to your preferable length.

just trying to make your money work for you, hope this helps.
