Cyclocross Racing - Going to CX races alone

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So I'm giving my wife the weekend off and going to a race by myself. However I now have to factor something new into my race-day planning: what do I do with my car keys while I'm racing?
What do you guys/gals do with your car keys when you drive alone to CX races?

Well, if you're like me - a poor bike racer with a POS car with nothing worth stealing - then leave the keys on top of one of your tires under the wheel well. My most expensive swag is either on the bike or in the pit.

yup done both jersey pocket and wheel well.
also locked my keys in the car at this year's rfk crit which was on father's day. rather than wait three hours for a locksmith i broke a piece off of the fence and picked my car's lock.
also if you're referring to tacchino either my parents or girlfriend or both might be there, in which case i'm sure they'll hold onto em for you.

Yeah, the times I've raced alone (or when everyone I know was racing at the same time) I just threw 'em in my jersey pocket as well. The likelyhood of bailing and losing them in a 'cross race is hopefully pretty slim. :)

i get real lazy and end up riding with all kinds of **** in my jersey. keys, wallet, phone, etc
stick your key on your hip between the lycra and skin, it'll stay put
I guess its great to live where I do. Races we sponser, usually in the ignition or under floor mat. Also have stuck them behind the fuel door or in a coffee cup in the bed of my truck.
i always go alone...remember?, cx racing aint no good for getting chicks. i usually take my car key off the ring and either put it in my jersey and race with it, or hide it somewhere in the wheel well of my car.
or i just leave it in the tailgate somewhere...

I drive a POS that isn't worth as much as my bike. And I put the bike together cheap. I leave it unlocked with the keys under the seat.

I put my spare (valet) key on a chain, around my neck and under the base layer.

Skinsuit has a radio holder on the inside of the back - perfect for a key. 9/10 times I just leave them in my car under the seat.

my bibs have a pocket on the back portion where the mesh is. i lucked out today as a racer buddy was able to hold my stuff. no one else from my team showed up (most were in WI racing), but there is usually someone I know. if not, bib pocket-thingee

I carried them in my jersey pocket yesterday. A hundred meters or so after a crash I feared having lost them and, in a panic, reached around to feel for the bulge back there; they were still there. funny to be worrying about losing your keys when you're sucking wind and cramping.
In the ignition, or the ashtray or under the seat. I do the same at races too!

Usually in the wheel well or inside the front or rear bumper -- standard tricks. If I was more concerned about security I suppose I'd pin my keys inside my jersey pocket or try to find a friend in a different race who could hang on to them or something.

parking at beacon cx, bridgeton, NJ was all spread out and as I was relegated to hinterlands I chose to lock my car and carry my key in the radio pouch on the back of my bibs. that worked very well.
