Any comments regarding the NiteRider Minewt X2 with helmet mount kit? I'm looking for my first light and I think this one fits the bill perfectly. Light will be used mostly for mountain biking, perhaps an occasional road ride. Want an LED light in the $200-$250 or so price range. Anyone have any experience with these, pro or con?

Another option may be to stretch the budget a little and go with the dual, but I don't know if I can just use a single as a helmet mount or if I have to bar mount.

If you can wait to look for sales, I got my X2 dual for $190 when they were first available. Don't expect to helmet mount one and bar mount the other or use them seperate at all. They are hardwired together coming to a Y. The cable is about 13-14 inches total. A few inches coming off the battery where it Y's off, then each light has about 8 inches of wire running to it.

Never used a helmet mount

Helmet mount works well. Is adjustable for angle and when the light is pulled off the bit that remains on the helmet is reasonably low profile.
Extension cord could be an inch or two longer but is ok.

Thanks. I was hoping they were detachable (from eachother) so you could helmet mount one and leave the other at home. Sounds like they aren't. I'd like to have the duals on my road bike handlebar but use a single for my helmet when mountain biking.
