Here's a very small taste of the video I got at TdC. I'll have a downloadable 34 minute version soon. I'm in the process of the upload now.

550 slow riders in front of The 100 Milers made for a very slow start,
Nice video and love the sound track.

Just want to say HI! to everyone I met on Saturday. I rode a little with Bev, 10 spoke and Tom. It was an awesome day and what a bike path...only a few trucks(lol). I ended up doing 41 laps (had to catch my mate on her final lap). Great Job Indianopolis ADA and all the volunteers. We had a great day. I will send some of my pics when I can.

Good to meet you as well....

By the way, the music is "Bicycle", from Brian Sorrell and the Blue Smoke Band. Brian is a fellow BFer and was nice enough to grant me a use license for the tune. :D

Also, Trader Joes got me at the 12 second point in this short vid they put up!

While it indeed made for a slow start it was a good way of warming up those ol' legs before hammering down the other 99 miles around the track :)

Nice vid, Tom!

Monday 6/16/08 It was Great to be back in Indiana.
The BF riders are fine folks.
Came up short 5.8 miles. Computer time 6 hr 9 min riding, Took 2 pit stops of 4 min each.
Too old and slow.
Next year, we could pace line at 17 to 18 mph and all make the 100 miles.
Awesome smooth track ride.
9:00 AM on my way back to Texas.

And those were sharp looking jerseys as well.

Thank you each for sharing your experience on Saturday, in my thoughts, as the weather turn out very good up north here as well, made it a nice day for a wedding, so wife would not let me ride.:o

I have a similar situation with the cycling club. I'm the social director and my photo is on the website. Many people recognize me at club events and unfortunately I have no idea who they are until they introduce themselves.

Have a safe trip back, Fred. It was nice meeting you and all the other folks.

A pace line sounds good. It sure would have helped in the headwinds. Even this old slow rider was able to hit 17-18 with the tailwinds we had:) I made stops every 20 miles and spent way too much time off the bike:o

Well, I guess you all figured I made it home safe-n-sound. Had one heck of a good time with you folks, and plan to do it again next year. Plan to train more for it also! Only got 27 laps down this time for 67.5 miles, but really enjoyed riding on that super smooth surface. Heck, I even passed a truck a few times out there on the track.

Had a blast, and looking for more fun,

Denny

BEV! Bend those elbows!

They're usually bent:o

I may have been stretching the back and neck. I'm seriously considering putting some aerobars on the bike for just this type of ride. It would give me another riding position and a chance to stretch.

Thanks. I do teach kids and first time riders in my volunteer position with the local park district. The kids are the best - they're so eager to learn how to ride. On a ride last year I told a 7 year old he should say "Passing on your left" when overtaking someone on the trail. He rode beside me the whole ride (8 miles) and didn't miss one time:)

I'm looking forward to next year.

Aero bars can be a life saver - My hands always 'fall asleep' while on the drops too long, but stretching out and putting the weight on my forearms rather than hands/wrists for just a few minutes revives them every time.

Until recently i could barley get into my drops cause of the beer gut. It is getting fairly comfortable now. but I have a question, does it feel as stable when you are down in the drops. I might just not be used to it.

I prefer it in the drops as far as handling goes. I don't know if it really handles better...it just feels sportier to me.

Riding in the drops will help the gut go away.
Have you done much standing while you pedal?
It helps increase control and balance.

For me at least it's more stable in the drops than on the breaks/shifters, just don't have the same quickness to respond if you need to break...just a bit, but it can make a difference. Aero's are probably worst for stability, and having to change position before breaking makes a real difference....again...all just my opinion, but I'm sure at least some others are in the same boat.

I do that in my spinner group. I feel fine all the time it is just a comparison thing. but I will try standing some while riding, good for the legs.

You looked like an experienced rider with a good bike and fit to it.
You have to drink and eat while riding.
I made two 4 minute stops to refill bottles and visit Porto cans.. 1st at 33 miles, 2nd 66 miles.
Four @ 24 oz bottles of Gatorade, 3 @ 16 oz cans of Slim Light w 40 mg of caffeine added.
5 @140 calorie Fruit Bars. one banana. Two GU gels with caffeine, Two hammer gels.
One bottle of water. Shift to a high gear and stand up to pedal. Increases blood flow.
My legs were getting tired toward the end. Felt good other wise.
Pratice to see how long or far you can ride without stopping.
If you can do 33 miles you have it in hand.
