I'll look at it. I've never done any organized training. I shouldn't have to for the 70k, should I? Or do they make us do it in 2 hours or something?
The road rides are pretty easy, and you have plenty of time. We only have the track to ride on for 6 hrs, though is the reason for the time limit there.
They also have GREAT SAG support and frequent rest areas. :D
About like Kansas, but with trees. Some small hills, Solveg. ;)
Your definition of hill is an unknown to me, Tom. But I'm suspicious.
That's OK. I'll bring a bike with a triple, and I ain't afraid of walking...

I'm assembling a training log Excel sheet, if anyone on the team wants it. I can send it via email to you in either 97-2003 Legacy format or the new 2007XML version, just let me know. It's a 12 week log, by the way.
(You'd need Office 2007 for the XML version).
I'll look at it....I don't have Office 2007. I can also use it for my training for TOSRV in May.

I'll send you the version for 97-2003 then ;) I can also convert it to even older formats, all the way back to 1.0 if necessary ;)

Thanks Tom! Really looking forward to the ride, meeting, and seeing again some of my fellow BFers.
I'd like to take a look at that excel spreadsheet also. The 97 - 03 legacy version would be the format needed on my end.
Thanks,
Denny

That's what I thought! ;) Not to mention it's easier logistically, and having a dozen team members gives me a little leverage ;)

I am riding in the Central PA area TdC in May,
I think I'll see you there. I have ridden this for a few years now and was a little burned out of the fund raising. No, I was really burned out. The shift to the end of May collided with something I was hoping to do as well. :(
I talked to the tour coordinator over the phone to verify my corporate matching gift and he tells me that there is a team captain for my company. I check up to find out he is actually in the building I just moved to. The very next day, he is over to chat and tells me of his 31yo unemployed son, who has diabetes and no insurance.
<sigh>
I'll either ride or just do the fundraising... :o
(did you happen upon the "french maid" group about 10-15 miles out of Newville two years ago? That would be worth seeing again!)

No, I missed that one... I was surprised at a couple of places along the road to have cheering sections! Including one pretty isolated location with a bunch of people in a pickup truck... now that I think of it, were those the maids? I was a bit tired. :o

Yes. They had a keg of beer in the back and they would chase the riders, while dressed in "french maid" outfits, offering them a cup of beer
I declined, but told the runner that that was about the funniest thing I had ever seen on a ride. I believe they were hashers.

Cool beans, and so am I! I'll be making plans for our post ride dinner as well, as far as a good place. :D
I'll check and see if the hotel has a big BBQ Grill, maybe we can do an after ride cookout :D

Wow Tom! Your are building quite a team this year, and have already raised quite a bit!
We just got our Company team registered, and have begun recruiting again. Our building director at work asked me about going out to PA to ride the MS-150 this year with our huge team, but it's the weekend before the Tour de Cure, and I don't think my knee could handle it.
Good Luck, and I hope to run into you again this year!

Hey Tom, have you ever thought about team jerseys? If we have enough people interested, that is...
Tom Stormcrowe
02-14-08, 10:36 PM
I've thought about it. They'd have to be semicustoms though, or T shirts, either one.
Who's interested?

16 weeks to go, how's the preparation for the ride going, everyone?
There has been no preparation for the ride on my part. It's been pretty much below zero here, and I haven't been able to grab the brief windows of 15 degrees or above.
But I'll be in KS in 3 weeks, and then I'm RIDING EVERY DAY!!!!

Congrats to Team Stormcrowe!! You all are doing amazing work with your fundraising. I have a quick question though. Are you having problems loading the ADA website today? I've tried the main site, the tour site, my personal and team pages and none of them will load. I just keep getting something about the domain being available.

The email goes through the website and since I just noticed that near the top of the page it says the domain has expired, chances are our emails will be bouncing back to us at some point. Looks like someone didn't do there job and pay the bill or renew or something. I hope they take care of it soon and have their own servers. If they let it go there could be some problems...

Tom, please post your donation page again; diabetes.org is coming up as an expired domain. Very strange, because I can see your fundraising total, but can't get to the donation page.
