Training ride went well yesterday. Started out a little chilly, and overcast, but things warmed up nicely. We did 20 miles, with some nice long hill work. As usual, I was the last one up the longer hills, but we always regrouped at the top. I could always see riders up in front, which is great because you know you're not far behind, and they won't really be waiting too long for you to reach them. The ride leader was excellent, and kept the conversation going, and also very informative.
I'm meeting a friend today for a ride which promises to be a lot less hilly.

That'll work! How will the ordering process happen - will they ship to us individually, or can we pick them up before the ride?
Metric century in AM for another training ride. Already getting somewhat warm down this way as summer and the Florida indoor cycling season are both just around the corner. This one, the BikeMS ride the end of the month, then the Tour de Cure up in Jacksonville, FL in the end of May. Great ride there if anyone wants to come on down for it - Jacksonville to St Augustine one day, and back the next day. All along the east coast of FL beaches. Gives a few Florida mountains (bridges over the intercostal waterway) to tackle as well.

Once I get the code, I'll provide a link via PM or email, and contact nfo to the company. That way, the MFGR can serve as a clearinghouse for the orders. :D They'll ship direct. :D

Finally got my room at The B-Yard Crossings officially reserved. That's going to be great not having to worry about driving, and parking the day of the ride. Thanks for getting us that group rate Tom

Not sure how I missed this thread!
My wife and I are riding the Napa Valley Tour (http://main.diabetes.org/goto/teamlasko2) (100 miles) on May 4th, and the Long Beach, CA Tour (http://main.diabetes.org/goto/teamlasko) (100k) on June 14th. We're out of shape...if you see a slow tandem, it's probably us.
Tom, I have raised $65.00 since you PM'd me. I also want a shirt if it is not too late. Thanks for getting me started.

Well, good news bad news. I finally got my new Felt.

But, while out for the maiden voyage, I tore the tendon in my leg between my foot & lower leg. Doc's got me on pain meds, & suggests I stay off the saddle for two weeks. This really cuts into my training schedule. I'm still planning on doing 100 at Indy, but the St. Louis ride the week prior I'll just do the 50 mile. I wish I "Felt" better right now!

So sorry to hear that.
How did you do it?
I have 930 miles on my Felt.
371 miles last week doing some tall bridges.

One thing that I remember doing was dropping a transmission on it at work (auto mechanic). My foot caught the corner of it during the fall, but it didn't bruise or get cut. Off & on it's hurt for a while, but riding didn't seem to make it hurt. Figures too; now we finally get some decent weather on the weekends!

Above is a link to my team page for Tour de Cure. I'm looking for recruits to ride at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway or on the various road rides we have scheduled. I'm planning to do a 100 mile, 6 hour or less hammerfest on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, using it as the worlds fastest and smoothest velodrome. Join me in the ride and have a great one!
This is great Tom. I'm also riding in the Tour de Cure in Colorado. I'm one of the red riders. I hope you meet and exceed you fund raising goal.

Yeah, 'twas a surprise to me! Should stand me in good stead in the ride and run portions of the Triathlon :D
You can always get a case and different head set and use it on the swim portion as well.
Congrats Tom

Hey guys and gals, if you have family members that want to help out but don't want to ride, we're still short about 50 volunteers for Tour de Cure in Indianapolis. PM me and I can give you the contact details for Barb or Sierra with the Indianapolis Office.
TOUR TIMES...Weekly Edition!
Week of April 28, 2008
Only 6 weeks to go!*******************************************************************************************
HELP US MEET THIS WEEK'S RIDER GOAL: WE NEED EACH TEAM CAPTAIN TO RECRUIT 2 MORE RIDERS BY FRIDAY!
Here are three easy ways YOU can help:
1. Ask ONE co-worker or friend to join your Team.
2. Email svogt@diabetes.org (svogt@diabetes.org) for a short, pre-written article that can be included in your company, church, or community newsletters and bulletins.
3. Ask a family member or friend to form a Team at their place of employment--and start a friendly competition
Help get us off that 13 and get Tom some more bennies out of the work he's been putting into all this....get a few more to join along with us from your local groups...they can then even help split the gas costs with ya and everyone wins!!!

Tom, any news on ordering the jersey? I want to make sure that I get it in time.
I hope everyone's fund raising and training is going well. I will be putting my training into high gear now that I have a break from kart racing. It seems like time is flying by. I can't wait to see everyone but I must admit I'm already getting nervous about being around soo many bikes  .

I think it may be too late in the game to get them now, unless Tom already has the order placed?

No worries. ;)
By the way, all, I had a little setback. I crashed pretty hard last night and tore myself up. I'm still game to try to complete the Century, assuming I'm out of the sling by then, but I can't guarantee I'll finish it. I WILL at least start it, and if I can't ride, I'll still be there to cheer you on and volunteer at the Aid Station for the Century. See my crash thread in Clyde's...
