Last call.....if you haven't booked your rooms by today, the contract expires for the reduced rate.....and then the bookings for the latecomers are going to be at standard rates.....
I have it set up so you can each book your rooms and a reminder on the rate: $75 a night per room booked and spouses/GF/SO do not have to pay extra.....
Brickyard Crossing

It's right next to the track as well.....
Better get reservations at White Castle too.
... and spouses/GF/SO do not have to pay extra.....
Dang, Tom. You left the p out of spouse but corrected it too fast. I wanted to ask Beverly if she was going to get soused, since she didn't qualify as my GF or SO.

Oh geez.....I haven't been soused for years. The last time was drinking whiskey sours while doing some yard work in hot weather. They tasted like lemonade going down:) Lesson learned:o

Hello everyone.
I seem to be a bit late to this, but I just signed up for the 100 mile track run. :) I've got quite a bit of fundraising to do in a month, but I'm sure it'll be fun. :)
I live in Bloomington, so I don't have to go far. I'll be coming up the morning of the ride. Can't wait to meet you all. :)

One more question.....is anyone flying in? I can arrange to make airport pickup. I have a minivan, so there's plenty of room for bikes.

The Blk/Neon Yellow is not the same as Neon Yellow. I thought they were the same.
I prefer the His Vis Yellow That I got, But the site did not list it as Hi Vis Yellow.
I love the jersey. It is so much better than my other jersey.

I'm a little worried about my training.
I was digging a garden last week, and my back kinda hurt when I was done, but I had to go to my horseback riding lesson, where I was learning how to post. I don't know how to post, and it just about killed me. 3 hours after I got home, my back seized up and I got a migraine (the real kind where you throw up) and it didn't go away for 24 hours.
So I took it easy for a few days, and got back on the bike today. It actually felt ok on the back, with just a little stiffness after, but the muscle relaxants and the sun have really wiped me out. I came back with a major headache again.
Anyway... even though I'm only doing the 40 miles, it may be a pretty challenging ride for me. I just haven't been putting on the miles I thought I would, with the wind down here.... I've been building leg muscles, though.

Solveg, you think YOU'RE worried about your training.....
I'm gonna be miserable! 2 weeks off the bike completely, minimum and a maximum of 2 weeks post crash training
Are you still going to ride the track, or take one of the shorter rides?
Don't push that post crash training, or you won't be riding at all. I'll have to haul you behind me in my wagon.

Still going to try to do the Century. If I finish, great, if not, it'll be less trouble to get back......won't have to ride the SAG wagon. :p If I DNF it, I'll likely be helping out in the track rider area anyway. :D

3611 miles of training, I had my First Cramp today.
Alvin TX, 98* Temp in The Blazing Texas Sun, Shining All Day. Rode 78 miles with 3 other retirees.
Also 2nd flat tire, small piece of glass in a new tube.
Laid down about 7 PM to rest and stretch out.
Legs got cool with the A/C blowing on me.
Cramp in left thigh when I tried to stand up.
Going again for more miles in the morning. We have are largest groups on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I just got confirmation as well. :) I went went with the yellow/black one.
Solveg, I'm also a bit worried about this as well. This will be my first attempt at a century. I'm hoping that the completely flat terrain will make it much much easier on me. :)

We should make a fine couple out there riding:) I'm scheduled for physical therapy starting the end of this month to work on getting my left leg back to functioning 100%. No pain with it but I can't stand to pedal and the right leg has been screaming about it not doing its share of work.
I'm sure they'll supply us with a map and we can always cut the 40 a little short;)

There will be a map and the routes are very well marked. The SAG Wagons will bring you back if you have to drop out for any reason as well. ;)
Service/Rest areas also all have usually at least an EMT on site.

Y'know, we can stop and take a lot of photos, too. To stretch. And eat pie. I'm game to toodle as easily as you want. Even injured, you're probably going to want to drop me, and that's OK too!

Hey, keep your eye open for Grizhicks around Traders Lane and Wilson Road. He's one of the Amateur radio operators helping out with TdC as an on the route safety person, and is on the inbound leg of the road rides. Give him a shout and wave as you pass. :D
Griz, I'll be on the track, myself, but I'll be in Team Colors. Give me a holler if you see me.
Speaking of the Colors, my Jersey arrived today. I'll get pics up later. :D

Yep, that's my brother. He's also videotaping the ride, as well. He's got about as much camera gear as I do cycling stuff! On another note, does anyone want to try pacelining the track? Might help if it's windy.
Tom Stormcrowe
05-22-08, 09:00 PM
As to whether I participate in a paceline will depend on how bad I'm still hurting, as well as how consistent I can be on bike handling. With a weak shoulder and hip, I'm not sure of how well I'd be able to handle a bike in close proximity like a Paceline. A bad twinge at the wrong time and a wobble would equal disaster.
