that bike is awesome. i just saw it in the photos thread.
if i thought i needed 2 bikes instead of just one, i'd probably get something like that as a 2nd bike.
so, it's all stock except for the parts you mention? i'd like more details please.

Have you ever slammed on your Brooks? I love having one on my road bike, but the thought of slamming my gooch on the rivet on the nose scares me.

Yup, all stock except for what I mentioned. Thomson isn't here yet, supposed to arrive on Mon/Tues. I just got done riding it..mannn I underestimated the weather! I was in shorts, chacos, and a patagonia fleece, and wow,it was chilly!
The stock saddle was actually really nice, and so is the Easton EA50 seatpost, but I needed the 410mm thomson, and the brooks was a gift. Stock grips are AWFUL...they feel like sandpaper. Those had to go. Carbon spacers just give it a little bling, plus the each stock spacer said "raliegh" and it just looked cheap.
So far so good though, solid parts for the most part, Avid BB5, Avid Fr-5 levers, EA50 stem and handlebars, Truvativ fire X crank, WTB Rims...nice 4130 double butted cro-moly frame. Decals are under clear coat, so you can't remove them(although they don't look as bad as I thought they would).
Head set is junk though...it's smoothe right now, but when I was putting the bike together, I could just tell it wasn't gonna last me long...I'll probably ask my parents for a Chris King headset for christmas, along with some salsa skewers(stock skewers are a little iffy as well).
hmm...I'm probably leaving some stuff out...oh yeah! Make sure you tighten the spokes. From the factory they are pretty loose.
Stock pedals are junkers, but for now I don't really care
All in all, with a few little upgrades, it really makes for a solid, squeak free ride that's low maintenance and a lot of fun. I'm already used to the 29's.
Like I said, stock saddle and seatpost are solid parts, but the seatpost length leaves a lot to be desired(I'm 6 feet tall, bought a medium, large just felt too huge, with the 29s and all).

I didn't really think about that:(. I suppose it's not the most practical saddle for long treks in the mountains or single trek, but it's nice for around town and commuting...I'll probably switch it out for different terrain.

mine rides fine off road. i have it on my mountain bike and my cross bike. it just takes minor getting used to.
