i like the other posts yelling at the kid for posting and thinking it is funny. Its not cool when people get hurt, on my ride this weekend someone needed to be airlifted to a hosp. becuase his tire blew going 45mph (road bike)!!

agreed... those kids were stupid

Troie, you really need to stop visiting PinkBike if you don't want to read about stupid kids. That's all that are there! Ridemonkey seems to be a much more mature crowd!

Never been to pinkbike forums lol..... im a kid but i have the sense to know not to build jumps in a public place and not to laugh at people when they get hurt.... ( unless its my m8 cos he's always falling ioff :P But he laughs at me first so he deserves it but we're only joking about it)

We are assuming because he is old he can't ride. No offensice to any younguns here but I know 3 old guys that would probably smoke half of the ones in that forum making the comments. They ride some of the gnarliest most difficult trails in whistler.

It could have been a skilled rider who made one small mistake. Happens all the time. I knew a pro on an 8 inch skinny 4 ft up crash badly and ended up paralyzed. Its the nature of the beast :)

age doesn't allways mean experience.

I can not tell you how many people that are older that I see that just got their bike and think "I see others doing it, it must be easy..." and end up getting hurt.

Age does not necessarily mean experience, true. But old age does not necessarily mean lack of ability either. There are plenty of old riders who can smoke me, and plenty of them I can smoke. Just don't make assumptions!

What do you expect. All those kids over there at Pinkbike think they know everything. The immaturity there is rediculous. I post over there myself. It's not funny that's he's paralyzed, but he was riding outside of his limits, and without a helmet, so I can't really say I feel sorry for him. It's one thing getting into a completely accidental crash, but I think that guy is an idiot for riding stuff that he can't handle.

That sounds like an assumption. How do any of us know what his limits were? How do you know that it wasnt a mechanical that got him? I mean unless Lance Armstrong was riding outside of his limits I distinctly remember him falling not once, but almost twice in the tour on OLNTV in one stage. I am not going to be the one to tell Lance he cant handle the tour because he crashed, are you?

About the helmet, I totally agree that he should have worn one. But exactly how would a helmet have prevented either the broken neck or the heart attack?

I feel sorry for him and his family, even if he rode a course he couldnt handle. I feel sorry for anyone hurt that badly, regardless of how it happened.

define old PLEASE.i was 29 when i started.is that old?been riding for 10 years.is that old?in that time i have leaned:helmets only work when worn, wear them always;if you dont crash occasionally ,are you trying hard enough?;there will always be someone better than me with better stuff and ability,so learn from them.there will always be someone who needs advice cuz im better than them due to experience;old is a thing of the mind;if you take it too seriously it aint fun anymore;and most of allTHOSE THAT THINK THEY KNOW IT ALL ANNOY THE CRAP OUT OF THOSE THAT DO!!!!

i do not north shore ride or black diamond ride or any of those types and i feel sorry for the family of that man and him.we know only for sure that some dumb donkey kid said he wasnt wearing a helmet and he got hurt real bad and it was funny to him.i have tried some places thinking i was better than i am only to find out i looked rally bad out there trying to HANG with the experts but if i had just stayed on the sidelines thinking i am real good i would never have found out that i lack in areas.i am just giving my opinion.if i must die i want to die trying to improve who i am not just my abilities.we must fail in order to see where we need to improve.my hat is off(but not my hemet) to this man for not having sense enough to just sit out of life by acting old.some of us are old enough to remember a certain singer saying she hopes she never turns 30(you know who you are)she now is WAY past that and lives in obscurity cuz she believes shes old but tell that to the man who blasted by me the other day on a trail.he is 69 and RACES for specializedin the 40 and over class.came in 3rd last year at massanutten 1 and 2 were 40 something.i asked him at the end of the trail abuot him that is what he said.i hope that when i get old i am still trying and not just poking fun at those who are

#1. Kids can be stupid.
#2. Not ALL kids are stupid.

It really pisses me off when i read things like this. Im 15 and ride both BMX and Mountain (Singletrack mostly) and it really bothers me on how we are treated sometimes. I personally had an experience in which i saw a guy get hit by a train and die. That was horrible, but even worse were the kids that were laughing about this afterwards. Both i and my friend gave them an earfull. Its people/kids like this that give the rest of us a bad name. We then lose all respect, as well as places to ride.

So, in general:

#1 kids- try to be a little more considerate and think about how what your doing now can affect your future.

#2 And everyone else- please, dont treat us all like we're inconsiderate idiots, because not all of us are.

Thanx, Dan
