Great Lakes - Gonna get cold this coming week

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Everyone in the midwest better get their last fill tomorrow (sunday) cuz the temp is gonna drop here to the low 40's on monday and stay in the 40's all week.

So.....40's are great for biking!!!!! :D
I'm more concerned about the time change. Chances of any daylight for after work rides will be slim to none for me.

Yup. Add 20 minutes to your dressing times. Booties and turtle necks time ... the fun is about to begin. :p

they are saying some snow here for Wednesday.....
Yep, pulled the roadie in for the winter today (trainer) . . .
The MTB is rideable all winter provided that there is no snow or ice on the roads.
I'll just layer up and keep going. I'm committed to riding year round except when there's ice on the roads or the temp with wind chill falls below 0.

+1 - good light and some layers and no problem. Only time of the year when I actually like a hot shower.

Riding in the dark ,in the cold, in snow, and on ice is a lot of fun! Riding on ice over a frozen lake or swamp is fantastic. Low 40's is good riding weather.
All you need is the right gear.

I'm gonna try and ride right through ... although I reserve the right to ski when conditions are good. :D

A few years ago we had a dump of some 12 inches of powder. I did manage to ride my MTB through it just as long as the snow was at or below the front axle. Any deeper than that and I couldn't push the gear anymore. It was hilarious to see the reaction from my neighbors as I crept by while they shoveled.
"Hey! Howz it goin' ?? "

$$$$$$$$$$$ can fix anything !!
I don't mind the cold as long as it's dry. Black ice = bad! Today we have having some heavy wind gust, kind of sucks for the new LBS, they open Tuesday with a chance for snow.

??? - who opens a new bike shop at the start of the off season? I guess it gives them time to get ready for next season so they aren't learning how to run the cash registers, and figuring out where to put the helmet display at the same time real customers are trying to buy stuff....:D

black ice with studded tires = no problem

+1 on the studded tires. Get yourself a bombproof set of rims (old Mavic Open Pros w/ 32 holes are my winter choice) and throw on some knobbies and/or studs. Use as necessary.
Morning commute was fantastic. Temps in the low 20's. Light winds. Red-tail hawks checking me out....
Best time of the year!
