Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - Make your own blinky! Courtesy of Laydyada

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Well this one's great. In part 5 of her Arduino tutorial, Ladyada shows us how to make a blinky light! More expensive then store bought though but, hey...

She's probably best known by people here for spokepov, a system to display images in your bike's wheels using persistence of vision. Available as kit and so on, really hot.

This is a perfect post for this forum. Now where can I get one already made? To just bolt on, hit a button for the image I want, and go.

I sent this to my 17 year old nephew who has too much time on his hands. He recently made a decent lava lamp and I'm thinking this might be a great winter project. His folks foolishly bought him a car, turning a kid who was a commuter into another automobile driver. But... this is America.

Eh, Nashbar don't seem to have spokepov's.
Hokey spokes are kinda similar, except they rather suck because you can't make them display anything other then the pre-programmed patterns. But you can buy them ready-made.

But seriously, ladyada's site explains how to make them from scratch, step by step. Check here, and progress through the menu on the left.
