I d/l the user manual for the Forerunner 305. I don't see anything about an odometer for this unit. Does it have one? Can you input current mileage and replace an existing cyclocomputer with the Forerunner 305? Or is that a function of the Edge 305?

From what I read, it looks like the Forerunner is geared to current usage only type info.

Also, does it come with a bike mount?

The 305 has an odometer (total mileage and trip) but you can't put data into it from another cyclocomp..
For mounting to my handlebars I use a piece of foam pipe insulation and strap the 305 around it

I didn't see any way to bring across mileage from another cc either. Do you know if the Edge 305 allows this?

Perhaps for cycling, the Edge 305 is the unit of choice unless you wish to do multiple sports.
