I’m using Keo (Look) pedals, and I have short-wide feet. When I buy regular (U.S.) male shoes, I buy them in size 7.5 Wide. When I bought my current pair of cycling shoes from Sidi, I limited my selection to their wide shoes … the Mega models.

My current shoes are the Road style, Genius, 5.5 Carbon Composite, Mega. The size is 41.5 Mega, and these are comfortable ... while only wearing thin summer cycling socks.

Trying to find wide winter shoes for very cold riding, for Keo (Look) pedals. Unfortunately the only winter shoes that Sidi offers do not come in Mega-width.

Are there wide winter cycling shoes that can be found, for Keo (Look) pedals? Along with being wide for my hobbit feet, they would have to be roomy enough for winter socks and maybe heated insoles.

Wide seems to be very hard to find in any sort of cycling shoe, let alone winter ones. The only wide winter shoes I know of that come in regular and wide are the new Lakes. I have a pair on order, hoping I can fit my flippers into them. Unfortunately for you, they're an MTB shoe. Might be worth picking up a cheap set of pedals for them just for the winter though.

Edit: Just a generic Google for "Winter Cycling Shoes" turned-up this page (http://brandscycle.com/itemlist.cfm?category=404http://), which has shoes I hadn't known about before, including some three-bolt ones. Unfortunately, nothing about the width...

Thanks tsl. Actually, the winter boots are for my Trek 730, that I'm frankensteining into a winter bike, probably with MTB chainrings and a Road cassette.
My roadie isn't assembled yet, but I did see its frame for the first time, yesterday at my LBS. It's a beaut.

I'll check out the Lake wide boots. Do Lake distributors let you buy two or three pair ... to try on ... to keep the one that fits ... and to send back the non-fitting pair for reimbursement?

Northwave makes a thermal road shoe that will accept Look cleats. I use their winter mtb shoes, they're the same as the road model except for the sole.

You're concerned about width. To give you an idea, these are the shoes I use at work.

I use size 10EEE.
Now the Northwaves aren't as wide and comfortable as the boots, but they're comfortable enough so I'm not in pain, even with thick merino wool socks. I've used them for a full season of commuting, 50 miles/week from October through April. No visable wear and my feet never got wet.

Thanks everyone. I'm looking at the three following possibilities. For an efficient winter bike ... in Southeast Michigan ... what kind of pedals would you recommend for each? Of the three following winter boots, which would you recommend for Michigan winter riding?

1. The wide-width 2-hole-sole from Lake:

Check. What would be a good clipless pedal, that would work for both the Diablo winter boot from Sidi, and the MXZ302-X from Lake?
