Southern California - BF SO CAL HOLIDAY DINNER/PARTY, YO! - December 8th

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Sorry, I am no longer planning this, so officially December 8th is off.

MARK THE DATE: DECEMBER 8TH
No, I do not have the details yet, but I'll be working on them. All it took was for a hot No Cal woman asking sweetly for a little dinner company to get this started. It will be somewhere that serves food at a reasonable hour. Suggestions are welcomed! Since it was in the OC last year, I may look into the Redondo Beachish area this year (half way and a compromise). Of course, depending on the crowd coming, it may be an OC thing again.
So far, I have these peeps, Yo:
Tracy!!!!!! :)

Halfway between where and where? Compromise? Have you seen a map of SoCal recently?

Now, lookie here, Dannyboy... There are people in THIS area (SFV and over in Pasadena, etc.) who have a long drive to get to OC. We have to compromise somehow and depending on the list of who RSVPs, we will find a location that is most convenient to the majority. :D

SD to Redondo - 2+ hours
Sherman Oaks to Redondo - 40min
Compromise indeed. Besides, it's not my fault you live in BFE.

You need to take a Vicadin and just turn that frown upside down, mister. Besides, I didn't see YOUR name showing interest in the other thread.:p

I'm not that interested in your brand of attendance anyway. ;)
I have plans earlier in the day, I expect I'll be done in plenty of time to make this though.

I thought this was the interest thread. And whining is a legitimate form of interest.

If it's on the Westside, peeps can do the Xmas Century in the SM mountains ("only" 5600 ft of climbing!) and chow down afterwards. :)
Does this mean there will be the "traditional" Burrito Century the next day? :-D

How'd my name mysteriously get on the list without even yet replying? Subliminal prodding? ;)
I should be able to go - Disney is adopting 175 of our client families this year for gifts/goodies, etc., and the distribution event is at my work that day but I should be done in time!

VMC is in too :p
I'm in and I vote for OC. :D
I'm in if it's in Oceanside or Carlsbad. Northern Carlsbad, not south of Palomar Airport Rd.
Matt and I are interested. :)
Also, he will be starting the 2nd annual Burrito Century thread soon (for the day after the Holiday Party- since we have to be consistent! :D)
edit to add: We would love it if it was in the OC....but what about Long Beach as another alternative/compromise? ;)

Is it mandatory? Even if my company xmas party is on the same weekend, I'm skipping it. I already spent my time for the company ... I'm not spending any more of my free time to a company that doesn't support me completely ... sorry, I'm venting.
wtb a ride i'll pay half the gas

Ah, yes, startup company ... it was nice being in one while it lasted. Back then, they valued you as an individual, not a number.

Not a startup....our company is 23 years old...but was purchased by the employees recently...I am one of the 4 members of the board of directors...plus I setup the xmas party...so I sort of have to be there...
But at least I will get to see Trac and vmc....I will miss seeing everyone else that evening!
BTW..I am customer of yours Ron!

But isn't the company party a chance for you to confess your love/desire for that hot coworker you ogle every day and wishfully hope she'd walk by so you can catch a glimpse of her breathtaking beauty . . . and then if things get awkward you can always blame it on either 1) the alcohol or 2) being caught up in warm and fuzzy emotions of the holiday spirit
Well, it's either us or Cisco.
Both...among others...

Matt, is there anyway you could NOT have the Burrito ride the next day following the party? :o I know for myself that if I plan this and it's in the OC again, then I have to drive all the way back to Sherman Oaks and then back to the OC the next day - I will skip the Burrito Century. It also makes it difficult to relax the night of the party. Not that I'm suggesting drunken table dancing (well, except for Go_Fast), but riding a century is tough even with just one or two libations the night before.
I'd prefer the dinner/party the weekend before the Burrito Century. But that's just me.

Sure. We're not wedded to that date. We just need our December century to complete the year. I'll check the calendar and reconsider the date.

But can it really be a Burrito Century if half of us aren't looping around the train station at 7am with semi-hangovers?
