There are no photos of Live Oak because it looks just like it always has... the trees are still there and it is still an amazing addition to Santiago.

They are likely there to control runoff. After the fires water and mud rush down the hillsides as there is no vegetation to slow it down.

how was the air around there? When I ride through Del Dios Highway, I can still smell the ashes and burned wood.

That's good news about Live Oak - the news reports were spotty, and I thought it had all burned.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the report. I don't know if they are going to conduct the Santiago Canyon time trial next Saturday but your report makes things look more promising.
