My wife just got her Trek 2200 WSD and I have a question about the FlightDeck computer. She has Ultegra levers with one button on each lever hood. Looking at the shimano instructions on the website it looks as though she will need the 6501 model flightdeck which is wireless. The wired model 6500 looks like it needs two buttons on the right lever hood. Do I have to use the wireless model? Thanks

wired vs wireless talks about the wheel pickup sensor. Wireless still has a wire going to each hood for the switch that gets covered by the HB tape, except for the very center that can be quite well hidden with placement and a few small wire ties.

There should be one wireless and one wired, with slightly different numbers, and there is a separeate number for the flitedeck computer and the mount/switch/pickup unit.

I THINK the correct numbers are...

SM-6501 for Ultegra wireless bkt & Sensor

SM-6500-RS for Ultegra Wired

SC-65xx computer - check to verify if you have double or triple ring, I think some work with double, some triple. There are several models - heck, they probably have one out there for 10-speed already to think about too....

Both the SC-6500 and SC-6501 will work with doubles and triples. You just need to program them correctly to either include or exclude the third chainring. There's no 10-speed FlightDeck out yet that I know of.

Make sure when you order it (wired or wireless) that you specify that you have either single pick ups or right side double.
There are still right side doubles out there.
