My name is Kim, I recently turned 51 years old. I have been riding bikes all my life, but more seriously for the last 2 years. I find that cycling gives me a sense of freedom, accomplishment and outright joy that nothing else does. Cyclist are a great bunch of folks and I have made a lot of new friends through my cycling groups. About 18 months ago I was hit by a truck...yep...darn near killed me, but it was a learning experience and has not deterred me one bit. I love cycling just as much as ever!! I DO however ride with groups and avoid high traffic areas, which isn't difficult in my area.
I ride a Giant ORC 2 and hope to graduate up to something lighter in a year or two. This season I had a blast and increased my mileage to 60 miles with a 15 mph average on a really good day. I hope to increase this as time goes on. My ability to take steep hills has improved dramatically too and I have gotten much more confident when I rocket down the other side!! All in all it has been a great season and I am looking forward to experiencing training in the winter months for the first time. I am a little bit of a wimp when it comes to being really cold, but am learning about how to dress etc...
When I am not cycling I am working as a nurse and THINKING about cycling!! I have lots of pets, 2 dogs and cat, 3 birds and a bunch of fish!! All in all, life is sweet. That's me....
