I wish we have something like that up here in LA. I've been to the Encino one, it's decent.

That's a very interesting way to word that question, or so Dr. Freud would say. :D

I looked around a bit. Bike Empire was selling NiteRider Moab units at $250, and Garmin 305's for same price. I realized I didn't need either. Saved my money and bought nothing.

you can get 205 units for like 130ish if you already have a HRM or don't need one.

Hi,

My club's Winter Classic Track Race also has a swap meet. Last year we sold out the booth spaces. The race and swap meet will be Sunday, Jan 27, 2008. We hold this at the ADT Event Center (velodrome) in Carson.

I bought zilch. The only thing that tempted me were $210 Specialized Carbon Pro shoes for $85, but then I don't really need two pairs of road shoes. It seemed to me that the old-bikes-are-hip thing has driven prices up on used stuff to silly levels. I saw a guy trying to sell a 90's ParkPre aluminum road bike for $1200.

Like Indolent said, lots of old bikes at high prices, lots of Eddy Merckx bikes for some reason. I bought a pair of wheels and some other minor stuff.

How early did you guys get there? We got there ~8:35 and the line was moving already. Was expecting gates to open at 9.

I didn't go, but from my work buddies that go every Spring and Fall, they both said that this SwapMeet was more just dudes unloading old parts from their garage. In the past, you'd have bike shops liquidating old stock, and internet shops passing through to move stuff for cheap.

I've bought 3 bikes at the swapmeet, and only one was complete (My FS Jamis MTB). Both my road bikes were bought and built for about $1000 less than I would have paid at a shop.

I didn't go this year because, strangely enough, I just didn't need anything.
