There's an area of the University of Georgia that has traditionally been a 'free-speech zone' where all the Bible-guys, wiccans, etc. hand out their propaganda. What's interesting is that this extends to the patch of road directly in front of the biggest bus stop on campus, so that people are essentially free to grafiti that small patch of road, and as such, the asphalt is covered in many layers of paint and is constantly changing. The painting is usually done at night and reasonable efforts are made to warn motorists, so no one gets run over.

Last night, I was riding, and three dumb girls where painting the road and had no lights, cones, flares, anything. ********, obviously.

I assumed they were just peds crossing the road (I was kind of zoned out riding along), and when I was about 20 feet away (going 20+ mph) I realize, that they are, in fact, in the process of painting my entire lane with white paint.

So anyways now I have whitewall tires. Sweet.

Did you get a skunk stripe up your back?

Sidenote: I love WRAS 88.5. I wish they would broadcast over the internet so I can listen when I'm not visiting Atlanta

Bet that little stretch of road is like riding on ice on a wet day.

No stripe, thank God. My first thought was "Great, now I'm going to spend the next week trying to get paint off my frame/components/clothes. The paint was dry enough to only stick to the tires though fortunately.

WRAS is Georgia State, but I like it as well. I wish they would broadcast at more than like, 10 watts so I could actually pick up the station. Our station, WUOG plays too much experimental electronica, half the time the stuff they play is so out there that I can't tell if the CD is skipping or if its a test of the emergency broadcast system or what.

Word, plus it's in front of a huge bus stop, so you'd have a very big audience if you went down.

i hate that ****. if you're going to graffiti, do it somewhere where it will get noticed and stay up for a while, not be painted over by some girls who don't agree with it.

Well this road painting sounds like its for people in the middle. People afraid of or against painting elsewhere but at the same time wanna have the chance to feel rebelious or wild. The fact that they only do it late at night proves they think this way i think. If its totally legal, why try and act guerilla about it and hide in the dark?
Funny stuff.
