Looks like a wet windy week so in about 15 minutes I am going to do my first full ride on the trainer. Anyone else been on the trainer yet this season?

Ack. given my work schedule and having a wife and three kids, I do three rides a week on a trainer at night. To quote Alice Cooper: "Welcome to My Nightmare."

When I am on te trainer I use Spinerval DVDs. Much better than just riding and watching tv or reading.

How about some trainer recommendations? I'm in the market for one - quit the gym and no longer have access to spinning classes.

Here is my setup. Real Axiom V3 (http://www.performancebike.com/shop/Profile.cfm?SKU=23636&item=40-3737&slitrk=search&slisearch=true) from Performance. It is the budget alternative to a Computrainer. You ride the with video while the trainer is changing the resistance as ascend and descend. The software shows your wattage, speed, gradiant, HR and so on. Very cool trainer for those long winter months.

Last winter was not too terrible...cross your fingers!;)

Invest your cash in warm clothing, a beater bike and ride through winter!!! :D If you dress right, its like riding on a summer day. You stay motivated cause your out riding, while your friends are turning into Jack Torrance (The Shining) riding their trainers :crash:
What's also nice is people in cars give you plenty of room cause they think your crazy! ;)

Easy to say. I get a much better work out on the trainer than if I tried to ride in cold, snowy conditions. If you want to dress like a polar bear and go out on a snow covered road then more power to ya. The roads here are way to narrow as is when they are clear and dry but I would say it is close to suicidal to ride on them when it is slick. I will personally ride into the 30's as long as it is dry but with out a trainer that would leave a lot of time off the bike for me.

Oh sorry, I did forget to mention I have a Computrainer just in case I can't get out. I really do hate  riding it though!

Does that program come with some rednecks in a pickup throwing cyber-beer cans at you for some LT work?
