Touring - Group Cycling Tours in France

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Has any one experienced cycling with a group in the southern parts of France? I am planning to do this with some friends in 2009 and would welcome any advice you can give, please.
I am looking at an organised group tour that carries luggage forward each day and can give some advice on the ensuring days travel.
hi walda
Where and when are you riding? southern France is a big area.
France is a really bike friendly place and it's very easy to do your own thing. If you want to be sagged, buy a friend a ticket and hire a van to drive. They'll get a holiday and you'll be way out in front in costs.
If you are just doing a CC tour, you don't need to take much. My wife and I only carry about 14kg for the 2 of us on our tandem when we cc tour.
Where on the north coast are you from?
Cheers

Ashbury but sometimes Forster
There is a site that contains a huge list of European bike tour companies and has comments about each one. You can find it a link to it here (http://www.biketouringtips.com/showTipComments.php?tipID=293).

Hi Geoff
A group of us from around Ballina, plus a couple from near Durban in South Africa, are contemplating a tour for a week or so. Most likely, we will start near Avignon and track around that area for a week or so.
I am interested to hear from people who have been in the area, what time of year is best and any other information that would be helpful.
Most of us have done rides similar to the NSW Big Ride, etc.
Cheers
