We had one of those when I was a kid. The wheels are too small, they don't hold enough stuff, and they look like something an old lady would use.

What's wrong with old ladies? Inquiring minds wanna know!

So there's just 2 of you, and you live close to the shops, and you cycle/walk everywhere... but you still do a big weekly shop like the big families in the suburbs? One of the nicer things about bike commuting is you can easily stop at smaller shops rather than worrying about parking and doing all your shopping at the big supermarkets with big carparks.

Why not pop into the shops 2-3 times a week and always have fresh food? Then for the big items, do what you've done previously - car or trailer or panniers or shopping trolley.
