Cyclocross - One hour of practice before 1st race

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So, I just got my "commuter" bike (Orbea cyclocross).

There happens to be a race not too far from me this weekend that I'm thinking about giving a try. I do a lot of running/biking/lifting per week already, so I'm in decent shape, but it's all road biking.

If I was going to spend an hour, maybe two, of specific cyclocross practice before trying a race, what would be the best things to practice?

mounts dismounts shouldering suitcasing (picking the bike up by the top tube like a suitcase) hopping barriers (with your feet not your bike).

velonews has a great set of videos that describes these techniques for free on their website.

good luck!

You could try bikesnobNYC's methods for racing cyclocross.
