Hello,
I'm not sure if my GT LTS (polished aluminum) has a clearcoat or not. According to some threads I've found, I can use aluminum polish iff there is no clearcoat, otherwise, I would have to use normal polish. Does anyone know if GT's polished aluminum bicycles have clearcoats? Thanks in advance for the replies!

I dont know if its clear coated or not but theres an easy way to find out. Rub some car wax on it. If your rag turns black its not clear coated. The black is oxidation from the aluminum. No black means it is clear coated. Now, if its not clear coated use Mothers aluminum polish. You can find it most autoparts stores. Simichrome polish works well but is more difficult to find. Surprisingly you can find it at better bike stores nad higher end specialty car accesory outlets.
thanks for the tip! i'll try the wax on the downtube and see where i need to go from there.
