I know Solvang is going on but for those that aren't riding that and want a good ride, I'm going to drive up Saturday to ride the normal 62 mile loop from Encanto Park to the village. I'm thinking of a 8am roll time, I'll be leaving San Diego around 6:30 or so.

It appears the road is closed to cars but should be open to us riders, which would make the east fork climb really nice not having to worry about motorcycles.

If the Mt is closed to us, I'll just hop back on the bike trail and go to other way for an out and back.

Anyone care to join me?

do you have a good starting point for the AC ride. I drove up there once yrs ago so I don't really know the area at all.

There's a park on the left hand side right where it makes the first turn, I'm sure Bob will have it's name since I can't think of it at this moment, but here's a Google map link to it. (http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&om=1&ll=34.218944,-118.199407&spn=0.00193,0.004227&z=19)

I drove up there once yrs ago so I don't really know the area at all.We meet at the Shell Station at the intersection of Angeles Crest Hwy and Foothill Blvd. There is an AC exit off the 210 and the Shell Station is 1/2 block south of the 210. Parking is to the North of the 210 on the street or the park that John told of. It's 1/2 mile up the road from the Shell Station so it might be hard to tell whose there.

I just got back from GMR. Holy crap it was cold on the way down. I parked at the bottom gate, rode up to the top gate and back down.

Not too many cars, probably only 10 or 12 vehicles (cars/trucks/suvs/motorcycls) passed me on the way up (not counting the 2 other cyclists that passed my slow @$$) and i didn't get passed by anyone on the way down.
