Foo - WHO GOT SPANKED as a child?

So fess up, who here was spanked as a child and what did it really do for ya.

I remember doing something wrong (can't remember what) and thinking on the way home that I was in for it.

I was a snot nosed brat at 8 years old and got to thinking about the beating that was to come down and figured I would teach my mom a lesson.

I picked up a bunch of rocks and filled my back pockets with them, then I untucked my shirt to cover the rocks.

Sure enough when she got home and I was found out, the spanking was a comin and I was prepared. I bent over just waiting for the ensuing fun and she hit me one time and hurt her hand.

She made me leave the rocks in my pockets while she grabbed a pick of stove wood and commenced to spank me with that. She drove those rocks into my young butt and made me leave them there for the rest of the night.

Talk about having trouble sitting down.

Ah yes, the disciplinarian's choice of delivery. I got the wooden spoon once. Spanking the old fashioned way was the usual.

Grandmom was a southern school teacher - she had a narrow paddle just for wacking kids. Heat for the seat she called it. I used to like breaking bottles; she seemed to like paddling me. I guess it all worked out.

I spanked my son precisely once for repeatedly hitting another child. I felt really bad doing it, but I have to say, I never had to raise my hand to him again. So I'm not a big fan of spanking, but I wouldn't say it was child abuse each and every time it occurs.

My dad spanked with the belt. He would snap it before for quite a while to make it "pop" loudly. That snap before the spanking was the worst.....just anticipating what was coming.

Yes....it did good for me. I was much less likely to do something bad (that I thought I'd get caught for) knowing that belt would be coming.

Best was a spanking I got in school in 5th grade after getting into a fight with another kid in the cafeteria at breakfast time. I had just got my first wallet (a vinyl Spiderman wallet) and I packed my homework and everything I could into it to make it look fat. I got spanked by an unobservant administrator right on that fat wallet and didn't feel a thing. Me and the guy go back to class.....me giggling, him crying like a baby. :D

Worst though was one day when me and my buddy were caught skipping class in 8th grade by the asst. principal. He took us to the dean's office. Dean Gonzales (we called him Gonzo) was an amateur body builder and had arms about as big as Hulk Hogan's. I just happened to be wearing thin jogging pants and was commando that day. He had a big wood paddle that had holes cut in it for the aerodynamic affect. Man of man did that sting for quite a while.

My parents used to beat me with the wooden spoon, till it broke.

Then those ****ers moved onto the belt.

i got the belt often...i deserved it every time, too.

it wasn't long before it didn't hurt anymore.

What's worse are the ones who don't know the difference. My parents didn't and I've the physical scars to remind me.

I got the spoon so much there's still a wood grain imprint in my arse!

I can't really say what it did for me, but it's hard to say whether I'd use corporal punishment with kids. It's mostly due to psychology studies I've read rather than experience.

Yes I did. Anywhere from the spoon to the belt. It taught me there were reprocusions for my actions. I knew that if I continued with what I was doing there was going to be a less then desirable end result. I can say with a certain amount of confidence that if it weren't for those whoopin's I would be in a much worst place.

I got spanked maybe 4 times i as a kid and I deserved it every time.

I'm 34 and mentally okay. Although I still need spanking and it gets expensive.

Spankings are not vicious beatings. Spanking gets a childs attention and lets the child know its time to listen up `cause this is important. It has everything to do with discipline and wanting to make sure the child knows without a doubt who is the boss. As long as the parent is loving and has the childs best interest in mind then spanking is a great yet unfortunate tool that must be administered to bring out an immediate positive outcome that will not be forgotten.

Breaking bones and drawing blood is quite different from a spanking.

Beatings and blood are signs of abuse and suck. Period.

We limited the spankings to three swats with the hand, no impliments at all alowed. If it stung our hand a little then it was hard enough.

Never when we were angry. The kids had to feel pain or it meant nothing.

As far as when I grew up, man oh man. I had to go outside and pick my own willow switch for the teacher and if it wasn't big enough she/he would go get a bigger one and use it on me until it was small.

Anyway, we have digressed here to some degree so back to your regular scheduled programming.

I was raised in the late 60s and early 70s, so everyone spanked me, mom, dad, grandparents, school teachers, coaches, you name someone that I came into contact with between 1969 and 1980 and they probably spanked me, and rightly so. I was no better then than I am now.

Wow, talk about too many times to list! I'd have to guess at least 2-3x per week. I do remember one incident that involved an oar. Ouch. :eek:

I got the wooden spoon a couple of times (I had a weak one break on me) and just the usual spanking. Didn't harm me and made sure I thought before being really bad. I was mostly well behaved though (or quiet, which amounts to the same thing).

Just once. I was around 5-6 and I don't even remember what I did to start the whole thing. I just remember my dad asking "Do you want me to take my belt off" and me thinking "I can take it" so I said "Yeah!" I was wrong. But I'm a quick learner. Never did that again.

I caught my step son and his friend doing pretty much the same thing (they were 9 and 10) and after a little convo with the friend's dad we sat them down at the computer and made them look at pictures of burn victims until they were crying and begging us to stop.

Playing with matches was never a problem after that.

I only got a few well deserved swats from my mom when I was a child... my step father was beaten horribly as a child and despite being one of the toughest SOB's in valley he could never bring himself to hit any of his biological or step children (he had 12 of them). This was a good thing as he could destroy grown men and I saw him dead-lift and toss full oil drums on many occasions... he could swing a 30 pound sledge hammer like a normal person uses a tack hammer (one handed) and if he had ever hit me I think I would have been killed.

He just about always wore a shirt, even if we were at the lake swimming and one day he took off his shirt and I saw his back was covered in hideous scars. I later learned that his dad used to beat him to the point of unconsciousness with a horse harness for the smallest infraction and that he almost died from some of the beatings.
