Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

- it will be fun to watch, especially considering that i'll be able to see a two-mile stretch of the 56mi bike ride from the front of my house!

- so if you're headed down Belcher Rd (71st) and you hear a cowbell and see a 50+ BF forum member jumping up and down and screaming, it will be me!

- last year was fun, too... interesting to see several amputees in the lead riders (nearly an hour ahead of the main pack!)

- the only bad part is watching the insipid snowbirds and locals in cars panicking at not being able to use a blocked off lane and not understanding that you're not supposed to make left turns in front of 25mph+ cyclists... (idiot drivers!)... last year, a senior citizen driver took out one rider on Park Blvd. around the corner from me, despite police waving traffic off the center turn lanes...

Nice, I take it that you watched the Ironman. I raced it. Cranked out a 4:53 bike split.

Nice bike split. How did the rest of the race go? Is Florida wetsuit legal for age groupers?

Florida is wetsuit legal. Pretty awesome because of it.

Swim-1:03
T1-7
Bike- 4:53
T2- 7
Run- 5:17

Obviously my run is my problem. I was onto the run course at 6:20ish into the race. If I coulda ran my goal time of 4:30, I woulda been sub 10, but ce la vie. I had some bad feet problems, so I had to walk alot. I am signed up for next year, and am going to be training my run like crazy. Hope to get in a marathon or two this year, I want to be under 4 hours atleast, more like 330 for just a marathon. That should allow me to race a 4 hour or less in the IM.

Oh, and final time of 11:29:27

My car was in the shop today so I rode my bike from the dealership around Clearwater. Got 50 miles just toolin around. I saw a lot of triathletes training and was hoping to follow one or two just to see if I could keep up. I soon realized these guys/gals don't push it this close to the race. I felt odd blowing past a guy with calves as big as my thighs and thighs as big as my waist as we climbed the huge bridge that connects Clearwater beach to Bellair.
