Well, had a great birthday so far!

Unfortunately, a condition which I have periodically, trigeminal neuralgia (http://www.fpa-support.org/), has flared up this past week, and the med I need to take to stop it also sucks energy out of me. So, I was only able to take a 3 mile walk early this morning, a 1.5 mile walk with my wife at a local state park, and a 15 mile bike ride. I doubt that I will be doing any 68 mile rides anytime soon, but, hey, I am thankful for what i can do!

The 15 mile ride wa great - strong tail winds pushing me uphill, with heavy head winds coming back. Could have been worse if I had the opposite wind direction.

Thanks, everyone, for the birthday wishes.

That tri...whatever was just God's way of reminding you why heck you're old!!! That's what you get for having a birthday. I stopped awhile ago so thankfully have also stopped aging (geez I wish that were true!)

Happy B-Day! Every one is precious!

The trigeminal neuralgia (http://www.fpa-support.org/) is not age related (except in the sense that as you age you have more opportunity of getting just about anything. Lots of young folks have TN.)

But thanks for the good thought. TN is know as "The Beast" and results in severe facial pain.

OK so now I feel bad about teasing you... sounds like something awful to have, I hope you feel better soon.

Sorry to hear about the TN; hope it resolves soon.

Glad you had a happy, happy all the same. Hey, you got to ride today! It's a good life, isn't it?

The meds control it, but then you have the effects of the meds! I am not always which sure which is worst. TN (http://www.fpa-support.org/) is a short circuit of the trigeminal nerve right near the brain, which causes electrical-shock like pain in various parts of your face. My trigger point happens to be eating or shaving (which means, without the meds, I really can't eat or shave). Five years ago I had brain surgery in which they place a teflon pad to prevent the short circuit. But, alas, it has returned, which is not unusual. Generally it returns for a bit and then goes once again into remission for several months, but you never know for sure if it will go away again!
